Khuvsgul Lake tour (Code: 008)
Khovsgol Nuur (Khuvsgul lake) is the
deepest lake (up to 262m) in Central Asia, and the world's fourteenth
largest source of fresh water - containing between 1% and 2% of the
world's fresh water (that's 380,700 billion liters of water).
Geologically speaking, Khovsgol (Khuvsgul) is the younger sibling of
Lake Baikal, only 195km to the north-east, and was formed by the same
tectonic forces.
It is full of
fish, such as lenok and sturgeon, and the area is home to argali sheep,
ibex, bear, sable and moose as well as over 200 species of birds,
including the Baikal teal, barheaded goose (kheeriin galuu in
Mongolian), black stork and Altai snowcock.
The
region also hosts three separate, unique peoples: Darkhad, Buryat and
Tsaatan. The lake is now part of the Khovsgol Nuur (Khuvsgul lake)
National Park (established in 1992). Of it's 838,000 hectares, 251,000
are forest (though tree cover is starting to disappear around the
lakeshore). The 188,634 hectare Khoridol Saridag Nuruu Strictly
Protected Area was added to the park in 1997. An amazing 96 rivers flow
into the lake, while only one river flows out - the Egiin Gol, which
flows into the Selenge Gol and finally reaches Lake Baikal in Siberia.
The Huvsgul Lake National Park has all the elements you need for a fun-filled time – exotic, untouched nature, spectacular scenery and exhilarating activities. If you prefer calmer pursuits, there’s great fishing in the lake or wildlife to look out for. The Tsaatan tribe of nomads have grazing rights for their reindeer herds here in the park and you can meet the reindeer people on this trip.

ITINERARY
Day 01 Ulaanbaatar
Arrival to Ulaanbaatar and check in hotel. City tour including of Gandan Monastery, Sukhbaatar square, Zaisan hill to preview whole city and one museum with optional varieties Natural History Museum. (L+D)
Day 02 Moltsog els and Hustai National Park
After breakfast at the hotel, early in the morning will start our trip to Moltsog els and Hustai National Park. Continue drive and explore the current province natural region. We will drive to /100 km/ via Khustai Nuruu National Park, where pastures Przewalsky wild horse, which brought from Holland in framework of international project, and explore local natural beauty. Lunch in the tourist camp. The landscape composition is quite exciting that mountain, grassland covered with beautiful flowers or horse riding, where we need to rent horses from local area. Overnight in Lunoba tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Day 03 Kharakhorum city and Erdenezuu Monastery
After breakfast, we will drive to Erdene Zuu monastry. The Khar-Khorum – capital city of Mongolian Empire was founded in times of Chinggis Khaan - 12th century. Meanwhile, we will visit the Monastery – Erdene-Zuu, with 108 stupas and was built in 1586. Then will drive to the tourist camp. Lunch, dinner and overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Day04 To sit in mineral water Tsenher
After breakfast, we will drive to Tsenher soum. After to sit in mineral water Tsenher, nature landscape and wildlife by walking and can have good photo shots. Horse – exploring their lifestyle and cooking. Dinner and overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Day 05- 06 Taikhar rock and Khorgo
After breakfast, we will drive to Tamir soum. After arrival in Taikhar rock will explorie the river, nature landscape and wildlife by walking and can have good photo shots. After, will drive to Horgo will explore and discover the Horgo extinct volcano crater, which crater deep is 200 meters, and Terkhiin tsagaan lake – good spot for bird watching and fishing. Horse – exploring their lifestyle and cooking. Dinner and overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Day 07 Khuvsgul lake
After breakfast drive to Huvsgul aimag, Murun. We will drive to Huvsgul Lake, the deepest and purest lake in Mongolia. You have opportunity to trek to the lakeside & mountain for exploring, taking pictures, enjoying wildlife, flora & fauna of Huvsgul lake area. (B+L+D)
Day 08- 09. Horseback riding tour
After breakfast at the camp we will start horseback riding tour to Khoridal
saridag National Park. Your guide, a local horseman, will accompany you, giving
you the chance to discover the life and food of a nomadic family and horsemen
during the tour. Overnight in tent. (B+L+D)
Day 10. Bulgan and visit a nomad family
In the early morning, drive to Bulgan soum of Orkhon province, an area where
you will experience and learn about the unique lifestyle of nomads by living
and staying with them. You are welcome to taste the favorite drink of
Mongolians - airag, fermented mare’s milk. You may also enjoy tea and
conversations with the family, take hikes or read a book around the family Ger.

Day 11 Back to Ulaanbaatar and city shopping
After breakfast, we will drive to Ulaanbaatar. You may choose an optional city tour where you will be taken to souvenir and cashmere shops before enjoying an evening concert. Then a farewell dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B+L+D)

After breakfast, will be transferred from hotel to train station or airport. (B)
